The Arts in Education Task Force
serves as an advocacy and resource group in support of the development,
implementation, and delivery of comprehensive school arts programs
in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County.
In
1996, they assisted with re-establishing arts in the public schools
through the Albuquerque Public Schools Fine Arts Plan. In the
spring of 1999, the Arts Alliance completed a survey regarding
the level of arts-related activities in elementary schools in
Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. A copy of this survey is available
at the Arts Alliance.
The
Task Force is now comprised of two distinct sub-committees:
- The
Parent Advocacy Subcommittee works with parents and
teachers to coordinate their efforts to continue implementation
of arts in the schools.
- The
Community Arts Educators Subcommittee unites arts organizations
with school outreach programs so that the
greatest number of students benefit. The CAE Subcommittee
is responsible for the creation of the Educators Arts Resources
(E.A.R.)
on this website.
